Susan's Story

"I’m a busy working mum of 3 children, always struggled with my weight. I had gestational diabetes in 2 of my pregnancies which went away after the birth of my children. Having had gestational diabetes I had to have annual blood tests to make sure I didn't develop type 2. 3 years after my last child 23/12/20 my blood test came back raised and I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

I was so disappointed in myself and felt ashamed of myself that I had let this happen. Diabetes runs in my family but if id of made changes sooner to my lifestyle I could have prevented it. The Dr prescribed me metformin but I was determined to do it by diet changes, I didn’t want to be stuck taking tablets for the rest of my life at only 30 years old. He didn't believe I could do it without medication but gave me a chance. I started exercising, drinking more water and cut my carb intake right down. My sugar levels started to come down and the weight started to fall off.

At my 3 month review with the Dr I had got my sugars down to pre diabetic levels and they don't want to review me again for another year! I'm hoping I will be in the normal range by then. 8 months on and I’m currently down 50lb! I've dropped 3 dress sizes too. I feel so much better in myself. I made substitutions for the carbs I eat, I have cauliflower rice instead of rice, soy bean spaghetti instead of pasta and Seriously low carb bread!

I was so pleased when I discovered seriously low carb, to be able to eat bread without it spiking my sugars was an absolute game changer! I can still have the things I love and not have to worry about it raising my sugars! I didn’t think I’d be able to eat bread again when I was first diagnosed but I can! When I was diagnosed type 2 I drastically cut all carbs out of my diet to try and get my sugar levels down. I didn’t think I’d be able to eat bread again! Then I discovered your products and they where a complete came changer! If I fancy toast I can have it. If I'm going to a family bbq I can have a burger or hotdog in a bun without feeling like I'm missing out and without my sugar levels rising.
