Join us and take part in a qualitative exploration of long term keto-adaptation in trained endurance athletes

We are honoured and excited to share that Andy and Jo will be partaking in a study to understand how they use the ketogenic diet as endurance athletes.

There is more and more research being done looking at ketogenic diets and how they impact exercise performance. But what is currently missing from the research is the voice of people that have experienced ketogenic diets themselves.

I'm sure you will have heard lots of research about how ketogenic diets impact exercise performance, or how long keto-adaptation takes, for example. And much of this is based on great research, but it's missing the view of people that have done it and can share their own experiences. Getting an understanding of ketogenic diets and keto-adaptation from people who have experienced it will help guide future research, to make sure ketogenic diets are studied in a more valid way, by basing it on what people actually do in the real world. It will also help add context to research done in the lab.

Do you want to be a part of this exciting study? Have you...

- Been on a keto diet for a minimum of 6 months
- Average at least 3 hours of endurance exercise per week and complete 60 minutes of continuous cycling on an exercise bike
- Are able to make time for an online interview lasting approximately 60 minutes

If you have answered yes to all of the above and want to find out more, please email M.Carpenter@kingston.ac.uk

What will happen if I agree to partake?

Should you agree to partake, you will be asked to do an interview lasting approximately 1 hour over Microsoft teams. You will be asked a series of questions focusing on your diet and your training, and how these two have interacted. This interview will be recorded using Microsoft teams recording. The interview will then be transcribed onto Microsoft word within 1 week of the interview.

Who is organising and funding the study?

This study is part of Matthew Carpetener's PhD project within the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing at Kingston University. None of the investigators stands to gain financially from this study. Seriously Low Carb and Keeto Life are no way connected to this study, other than the founders partaking in this incredible research.
